Serendipitous Quote from James Madison

jamesmadison
"If tyranny and oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.

Of all the enemies to public liberty, war is perhaps the most to be dreaded because it comprises and develops the germ of every other.

War is the parent of armies; from these proceed debts and taxes; and armies, and debts, and taxes are the known instruments for bringing the many under the domination of the few.

The loss of liberty at home is to be charged to the provisions against danger, real or imagined, from abroad."

- James Madison
4th President of the United States 1809–1817

As if he was still here !
What a perfect 'explanation' of today's America and its people and economy.
I am amazed that such clear thinking people existed before !! we seem to have run out of stock of these these days.

How wise Madison was. If only we the people had learned that lesson.

It is one thing to be strong.

It is quite another to take on the self appointed responsibility to control the world by virtue of having the biggest and best guns.

I would just like to ride my bike, and forget that we are currently sending our beautiful troops, my brother, to lands in order to make those lands unlivable.
