Teesdale's FJR1300 Motor Officer's Mount
POLICE motorcyclists in Teesdale Durham, UK are now more visible thanks to the redesigned livery on their new patrol bikes.

Durham Constabulary's motorcycle section has taken delivery of nine new bikes, to help them to patrol the dale.  The bikes are the first vehicles in the fleet to adopt the national Battenberg style of police livery, which uses high visibility yellow diamond patterns on a blue background.

The new machines, Yamaha FJR 1300s, pack a powerful punch and are capable of speeds of up to 150mph. They replace the former fleet of Honda Pan European ST 1300s.

The new police motorcycle livery As well as the high visibility markings, the bikes also have LED lights which use less power, and are fitted with Incident Data Recorders.

PC Tony Richmond, of Durham Constabulary's motorcycle section, said:  "The bikes are capable of doing everything we ask of them. They are agile enough and quick enough to do what we need them to do,and the markings make us even more visible."

PC Richmond also explained that although the motorcycle section does traffic duties, they spend a lot of time promoting responsible riding.
