Commuting in FlatLand May 22

I had a very nice ride in to the office this morning.
The weather was perfect and the traffic moved well on the surface streets I travel.

I'm in GS-Adventure Withdrawals having ridden the K1200LT for the past two days while awaiting brake pads for the GS to arrive.

These two bikes could not be more different.
  • While they both are fun to ride the GS is about half the weight of the LT
  • The LT has an inline four engine, The GS has the Horizontally Opposed Twin
  • The LT has 5 gears and Reverse, The GS has 6 gears
  • The LT has Fully Interlinked ABS Brakes, the GS has partially linked iABS
  • The LT holds approximately 5 US Gallons of petrol, the GS holds 9.3 US Gallons and with the filler Neck mod I can get 10 US gallons in her
  • Both have Rick Mayer Saddles
  • The LT sits very low to the ground and the GS has 10 inches from the engine bash plate to the ground
  • The LT has Cast wheels where the GS -Adventure has Spoked wheels.
  • Both machines are shaft drive
I've put over 100,000 miles on the LT so far but the GS is way more comfortable than the LT for Long Distance Riding.
